About Us

Mission Statement & Philosophy

At Lakes Child Care, we believe that early childhood is a time of exploration, discovery, and growth. Our philosophy is rooted in the understanding that young children learn best through hands-on, multi-sensory experiences that engage their natural curiosity and creativity.

We offer a nurturing, play-based environment where children are encouraged to learn at their own pace through meaningful play, open-ended materials, and rich social interactions. Our

curriculum emphasizes the development of social-emotional skills, fostering empathy, cooperation, and independence. We

support each child’s unique developmental journey by providing opportunities for active learning, problem-solving, and positive peer relationships.

We value strong connections with families and believe in working together as partners in your child’s early education. Our goal is to create a warm, safe, and inclusive space where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow.

Health & Safety

At Lakes Child Care, your child’s well-being is our top priority. As a licensed family child care provider in Elizabeth Lake, CA (93532), we follow all health and safety regulations required by the State of California.

We maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment through:

  • Current CPR & First Aid certification

  • Federal & State background checks

  • Up-to-date immunization records for staff and enrolled children

  • Ongoing training in child development, health, and safety

  • Regular fire and emergency drills

  • Safe sleep practices for infants

  • Frequent handwashing and daily sanitation of toys and surfaces

Our Program Includes

Meals & Snacks

Healthy Meals & Snacks at No Extra Cost!
We proudly participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to provide nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks at no additional cost to families. Our menu meets USDA guidelines and supports healthy growth and development for children of all ages.  Many items on our menu are organic!  We will do our best to accommodate children who have special diet restrictions, or parent's may supply their food/drinks.

As part of CACFP, our program receives ongoing training and is regularly monitored to ensure high standards in meal planning, food safety, and nutrition.

Our Curriculum

At Lakes Child Care, we believe children learn best through hands-on, play-based experiences that support the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. Our curriculum is tailored to meet the unique developmental needs of each age group from infancy through age 5. We provide a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Infants & Toddlers (Ages 0–2)

Our curriculum for infants and toddlers focuses on responsive caregiving, secure attachments, and sensory exploration. Learning is embedded in everyday routines and rich interactions that support early brain development. Key areas include:

  • Social-Emotional Development: Building trust through consistent, nurturing relationships.

  • Language & Communication: Engaging in songs, simple sign language, and responsive conversations to foster early language.

  • Motor Skills: Encouraging movement through tummy time, crawling, grasping, climbing, and walking.

  • Sensory Play: Exploring textures, sounds, colors, and cause-and-effect activities.

  • Individualized Care: We follow each child’s natural rhythms and adjust activities based on their developmental milestones and interests.

Preschool (Ages 3–5)

Our preschool curriculum is designed to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond through intentional play, exploration, and social experiences. We use a multi-sensory, developmentally appropriate approach aligned with the California Preschool Learning Foundations. Focus areas include:

  • Language & Literacy: Storytelling, alphabet exposure, phonological awareness, and vocabulary building through daily conversations and read-alouds.

  • Math & Reasoning: Sorting, counting, patterning, and problem-solving with hands-on materials.

  • Science & Discovery: Experiments, and observation-based exploration.

  • Creative Arts: Music, movement, painting, dramatic play, and open-ended art projects.

  • Social Skills: Practicing cooperation, empathy, and independence through peer interaction and guided play.

  • Physical Development: Daily indoor and outdoor play to strengthen both fine and gross motor skills.

We rotate themes and materials regularly to keep children engaged and ensure a well-rounded learning experience. Our goal is to help every child grow in confidence, competence, and joy.
