About Us
Health & Safety
Lakes Child Care is a licensed family child care in Elizabeth Lake, CA 93532. We are regulated by the state of California for the health & safety of the children in our care. We maintain CPR & First-Aid certification, background checks, immunization records of children and staff, staff training, fire drills, safe sleep practices for infants, clean & sanitized surfaces, regular hand-washing and many other health & safety precautions.
Mission Statement & Philosophy
Hello! My name is Ms. Denise, owner and teacher/provider of Lakes Child Care. I have over 28 years experience in early childhood education. I currently hold 24 ECE units and over a two-hundred training hours in professional development directly related to child development.
As an early childhood educator, it is my goal to serve the children and families in our community and surrounding areas with high-quality child care and early learning opportunities. To provide an inclusive, safe, nurturing environment where children can learn and develop to their fullest potential. To prepare children for school and help them grow and learn in all areas of their development.
We strive to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive and enthusiastic learners. I believe children learn best by doing. Learning requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and to learn firsthand about the world we live in. The way this happens in early childhood is by playing games, using their imaginations, expressing their emotions, creating and exploring their environments. Their play is a balance of child-initiated learning and a teacher-directed approach by intentionally planning, organizing the classroom and setting up activities to meet the needs of individual students. We question and extend their thinking and play to help them learn and grow.
Our Program Includes
Meals & Snacks
We provide nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily. We adhere to the CACFP nutrition standards for children. Many items on our menu are organic, including milk! We will do our best to accommodate children who have special diet restrictions, or parent's may supply their food/drinks.
Curriculum
Children are all learning and developing at different levels. We offer hands on approaches, and play based learning in our classroom. We engage children with the following strategies:
- Creative lessons that enable children of different levels and abilities to achieve
- Child friendly language and activities
- Developmentally based teaching that works at every level
- Hands-on approach that promotes active participation

- 7:45 - 8:30 Table Activity or Carpet Game
- 8:30 - 9:00 Circle Time
- 9:00 - 10:00 Small Groups for Art, Literacy, Math or Science Activities
- 10:00 - 10:30 Hand-washing & Snack
- 10:30 - 11:30 Gross Motor & Outside Play
- 11:30 - 12:00 Hand-washing & Storytime
- 12:00 - 12:30 Lunch
- 12:30 -1:00 Clean-up & Prepare for Nap / Rest
- 1:00 - 3:00 Nap / Rest Time
- 3:00 - 3:30 Clean Up & Snack Time
- 3:30 - 5:00 Indoor and / or Outdoor Free Choice Play & Departures
